While Spencer adjusts to his brutal college-football workout schedule, Olivia starts her paying job at the L.A. Tribune. Spencer finds himself continually late for meetings. Clay tells Layla he's back in L.A. for a while. Patience informs Olivia that Coop is driving her crazy since she's always underfoot. Jamie returns to an indifferent Asher. The coach rips Spencer for making a one-handed catch. Denise drafts Grace to the principal search committee. Patience asks Layla to find something for Coop to do. Grace suggests Billy as interim principal for South Crenshaw. Olivia finds that she's going to be doing grunt work at the Tribune. A coach tells Spencer he's going to get a lot of game time at a live scrimmage. Layla asks Coop to help her mentor young artists at a showcase. Grace asks Billy to be interim principal and he declines. Coop submits a long list of demands for Patience to Layla. Asher finds out that Jamie dealt with lupus over the summer. When Coop balks, Patience loses her showcase slot to a female rapper. Spencer finally goes into the scrimmage for one play, which results in an interception. Then the head coach pulls him. Olivia is concerned their relationship is affecting Spencer's play. Jordan goes in with a backup receiver, who outperforms Spencer. Layla dresses down Coop for her attitude. Billy changes his mind and accepts interim principal. Grace fooled him. Asher makes a donation to Jamie's charity. He invites her to the farewell party. Patience informs Coop that she needs to find something to do away from her. Layla lets Clay know that she doesn't want a serious relationship. JJ proposes extending the beach-house lease and everyone agrees. Asher is going to have to give up his sports-book job as a result and go back to the restaurant.
