Queen of the South Season 4 Episode 11 Review: Mientras Dormías

at .

While Teresa was sleeping all hell was about to break loose on Queen of the South Season 4 Episode 11.

Tony was dead, Teresa was unconscious, and there was no end to the list of suspects who could have planted that bomb.

Teresa Is Hurt - Queen of the South

Yet, when the truth came out, it was still surprising.

Judge LaFayette seems like a man motivated more by greed than by personal revenge, so realizing that he put the hit out on Teresa that ended up taking Tony's life was a bit unexpected.

Teresa was able to line his pockets with $30 million in under three days. That he'd give up a source of that much ready cash was astounding.

Then again, he's had a deep-seated hatred for Teresa even before he mistakenly thought she had murdered his nephew. A powerful, Mexican woman setting up shop in his territory was something he couldn't allow.

So after draining her of a huge sum of money to help fund his private prison scheme, he put out a hit on her.

Detective Green Checks In - Queen of the South Season 4 Episode 11

Now, Detective Green is scrambling to clean up the mess which has become even more sloppy with the paroled felon in the wind and his accomplice in jail.

But it was Pote who had to hold everything together and it didn't sit well with him.

I always thought that one day I would take a bullet for her. I never thought that I would take her place.

Pote

The big guy had to not only keep Teresa safe from a hitman but keep her business running as smoothly as possible.

And no one was making it easy for him.

Boaz Is All Smiles - Queen of the South Season 4 Episode 11

Boaz flew in from Mexico and tried to rattle Pote by reminding him who has been the boss of a cartel and who hasn't and then he had a contentious run-in with Marcel Dumas.

Marcel: You don’t know me, son.
Boaz: Son? Do I look like a boy, pendejo? I’m the one who gives orders.
Marcel: Not in my city. Not to me, ever.
Boaz: Is that a threat?
Marcel: Well, it’s not a dinner invitation.

When Boaz decided to stop all shipments, it seemed to make little sense as you'd think the goal would be to keep business as normal as possible.

But his point was made when El Gordo's nephew took out Teresa's entire supply of drugs being sent to Oksana and killed one of her men. When you don't know from which direction your enemy is coming, perhaps it is better to close ranks.

Oksana Is Furious - Queen of the South Season 4 Episode 11

The business interruption left Oksana furious and doubting Pote's ability to keep Teresa's empire afloat while she was out of commission.

Wait until Oksana learns that it was El Gordo's nephew who took her supply. No doubt, he'll be after her next for her betrayal of his uncle.

But Boaz wasn't just in town to make business decisions, he had some questions for Javier that could only be answered face to face...

Or face to fist.

Javier Is Surprised - Queen of the South Season 4 Episode 11

That Javier is still alive speaks to the bond of family because I can't imagine that Boaz would let any other man live who might have touched Emilia.

What's sad is that neither Boaz nor Javier have any idea that Emelia is dead, and being that she's buried off the side of the road somewhere, they may never know.

Queen of the South's Alice Braga Talks Spoilers, Romance, and Bodyguards

With so many players vying for position and waiting to see if Teresa would survive, Pote had his hands full trying to figure out whom to trust...

Pote: I don’t know who to trust anymore, Dumas, Boaz, Javier?
Kelly Anne: Trust Teresa. She has good judgment. She works with those men for a reason.
Pote: Even Boaz?
Kelly Anne: Even Boaz brings something to the table or Teresa would have nothing to do with him.

Thank goodness Kelly Anne was there for Pote.

Bad News - Queen of the South Season 4 Episode 10

Kelly Anne was there to make sure Pote ate, be a buffer between him and the staff when he lost his cool, and even helped try to take out the fake nurse attempting to kill Teresa.

Although, while in the stairwell, Kelly Anne really should have pulled the woman down by her braid, I can't say she didn't put up a good fight.

In the end, Kelly Anne's instincts were right about following Teresa's lead, even when it came to Boaz who turned out to be more loyal than anyone else expected in this Queen of the South quote...

Javier: What are you doing here, Boaz? Are you here to take over Teresa’s business?
Boaz: No. I’m Teresa’s soldier and I’m at peace with it. She is the queen and a badass.

While unconscious, it was Teresa's memories of Brenda that were the most touching.

At Brenda's Bedside - Queen of the South Season 4 Episode 11

That Teresa was there the moment Tony was born and was the first person to hold him after his precarious birth must make his death all the more difficult to handle.

Brenda: If you have to choose between me and Tony, let Tony live.
Teresa: You are both going to make it.
Brenda: I have made every bad choice in the world. He deserves a shot at life.
Teresa: We are growing old together, okay.

But growing old wasn't in the cards, not for Brenda and not for Tony.

If Brenda would have kept her vow to get out of the narco life if she and Tony both lived, perhaps things would have been different, but we'll never know.

Tony's death will change Teresa. Loving him like a parent, keeping him safe, and watching him grow into a young man gave her hope. It kept her striving to run her business with integrity.

Teresa Wakes Up - Queen of the South Season 4 Episode 11

But Tony's death will darken her heart. Given her words to Pote upon waking, it appears it already has.

I just hope she learns that LaFayette was responsible for Tony's murder so that she can focus her rage in the proper direction.

We’re going to kill them all.
