Lauren Graham Sets TV Return With Series Regular Role at NBC

It's been a long time coming, but Lauren Graham is officially returning to the small screen as a series regular. 

TV Line is reporting that the in-demand actress has been added to the cast of NBC's midseason dramedy Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. 

Graham is taking over from Carmen Cusack, who played the role of Joan in the pilot of the series.

Jane Levy takes on the titular role of Zoey on the series which scored a formal series order in May. 

"In this joyous and celebratory drama, Zoey Clarke is a whip-smart computer coder forging her way in San Francisco," reads the official logline for the series.

"After an unusual event she starts to hear the innermost wants and desires of the people around her through songs."

"At first, she questions her own sanity but soon realizes this unwanted curse may just be an incredibly wonderful gift."

Skylar Astin, Peter Gallagher, Alex Newell, John Clarence Stewart, and Mary Steenburgen are also attached to the cast of the series. 

Graham is probably best known for her role on Gilmore Girls, starring in seven seasons and a limited-series revival.

However, the actress also had a widely praised role on all six seasons of Parenthood, which also aired on NBC.

This marks a return to the Peacock network for the actress.

There's no firm premiere date for Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, but an early 2020 launch is likely. 

The series joins America’s Got Talent: Champions, Ellen’s Game of Games, Little Big Shots, World of Dance, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Will & Grace, Indebted, The Keenan Show, Manifest, Good Girls, Blindspot, Council of Dads, and Lincoln on NBC's midseason roster.

As for Gilmore Girls, there have been rumblings that the series could be making a comeback for another limited run.

To date, nothing has been formally announced by Netflix.
