The Brave Season 1 Episode 4 Review: Break Out

There's only one thing I can say after watching The Brave Season 1 Episode 4: Everyone needs to be watching this show.
I already knew this after The Brave Season 1 Episode 1, but I'm not kidding when I say The Brave keeps getting better.
It is the strongest of all the military shows out this fall (and I've seen them all), and like the Energizer Bunny, The Brave shows no signs of slowing down.
Every aspect of The Brave is sheer perfection from the writing to the acting to the cinematography.
It draws you in and holds you tight and only at the very end does it let you go to finally breathe that sigh of relief you knew was coming but weren't quite sure you'd actually get to do.
What I love is how The Brave changes it up each week. There is always a mission, but it's never the same and this week the mission was a special treat.
Sun, sand and Taliban.

Patricia got out of the office to join Dalton and team in Afghanistan leaving Noah in charge in D.C. It would have been easy for her to disrupt the camaraderie of the field team but that didn't happen.
She fit in perfectly which showed how well both the field team and the home team are in sync with each other.
And isn't that the way it should be? If they weren't, it would be dangerous for all involved.
It was great to watch Dalton step back and let Patricia do her job. She was the expert when it came to interrogating the American Taliban prisoner.
And when the shit hit the fan, and they had to get out of the prison, Patricia stepped back and let Dalton and his team do their jobs.
Despite the danger, she wasn't about to give up finding out the information she needed to get from Nate. She knew she was getting through to him before they had to move.
It blows my mind how calm they all were under such a stressful situation. It would have been so easy for Patricia to lose her cool, but she followed Dalton's lead and kept her focus on Nate.
She wasn't about to let a little gunfire keep her from getting the young American to divulge which U.S. base was about to get bombed.
Nate wanted to play tough guy. He was a traitor and a Taliban recruit, but she was able to chip away at him. No matter what he said, she had a strong comeback.
She admitted that America wasn't perfect, but at least it stood for something. What did the Taliban stand for? I loved that.
Nate: And if we both commit atrocities, how do you know you're on the right side.
Patricia: Big ideas. Freedom of speech. Gender equality.
While Dalton was maneuvering everyone inside, he was also directing everyone outside. Although Preach didn't necessarily agree with Dalton's orders, he still followed them without question.
It shows the level of trust they have for each other. And in their profession, they have to trust each other, or they put everyone in danger.
Preach doesn't come across as someone who's going to follow anyone blindly which is why I think he and Dalton have been together the longest. He knows Dalton enough to know that the Captain knows what he's doing.
And even though we know Mike Vogel and Anne Heche aren't going anywhere, the danger to them wasn't any less intense. Nate holding Patricia hostage and Dalton getting shot was scary to watch.
They might not have died, but there's no reason those two characters can't get seriously injured.
Even the strongest ones on the team are vulnerable.
But the entire team is one strong fighting machine, both at home and on the field.
Noah proved that he had what it took to lead the team from D.C. I'm not sure if Hannah thought he had it in him.
I don't kill just to kill Nate. That's how I know I'm on the right side.

It was cute that he bought a new suit for the job, but a new suit or not, he got the job done and the team to safety. Though, it was a bit touchy at the end. He had to make a tough call, and he did.
I don't know about anyone else, but I got just as teary-eyed as Noah did when he finally heard Preach's voice letting them know all was a-okay.
And through it all Patricia never gave up on Nate and eventually got the answer she was seeking. She's one tough cookie. How can you not admire her?
Once again, the team prevailed, and that's how it should be. I know it's what I want to see every week.
