It is a big week for Coach Eric Taylor and the Dillon Panthers as he finds the road back to high school football glory - and family life - a little bumpier than he had probably envisioned.

Eric and Tami Taylor are having some trouble getting back into the swing of things as a couple after the birth of the baby. Romatically, that is. Coach Mac tells Eric to give Tami some space, some time to relax. Eric is a little turned off by getting love life advice from Mac McGill but heeds his advice anyway.

While Tami continues struggling around her "six-week" mark (which she ultimately reaches at the end, much to Eric's happiness), Coach has his share of problems on the field as well. Matt and Smash are at each other's throats so Coach has the Panthers switch positions in practice to mix it up. He also has his stars over for dinner, where things don't exactly go smoothly. Saracen calls Eric out for leaving, just as Smash is trying to use the team - Matt says - as merely a career stepping stone.

As he prepares to walk out of Eric's house, Matt even throws in another dig, likening Eric's situation to Julie, "kind of like your daughter and that Swedish kid." The new, assertive Matt isn't all talk, either. Julie snapped out of her funk after the flame out with the Swede, but Matt is still less than thrilled with her. He turns down her invitation to go to some concert because of the way she turned her back on him.

In Mexico, Lyla arrives to find Riggins happy to see her and Street... not so happy to see her. Lyla's first instinct upon arriving is to double back and leave the two boys South of the Border. But Riggins - flawed as he is - convinces her to stay and talk Jason out of the surgery with his help on a booze cruise the next day. Reluctantly, she agrees.

On the boat, Jason isn't keen on being confronted by his friend and his ex about the surgery. After hearing their piece, he throws himself overboard and swims to shore. Someone, in a moment of clarity and near-drowning, he decides he no longer wants the surgery. They decide to head back to Dillon, but not before an evening of drinks and dancing in which both guys show a romantic interest in the lovely Lyla. Where will this lead?

The star of the show this week is Landry, on multiple levels. Tyra's ties to the murder victim told Landry's father all he needed to know... or at least raised enough suspicions that Mr. Clarke - as a father and a cop - tells her to stay away from his boy. Landry's dad also interrogates his son, who he says has never lied to him before but is lying to him now. It becomes more and more clear that the investigation is far from over.

Landry impressed Coach Taylor enough to get himself into the team's game Friday night, however, and with the Panthers down 13-0 and Matt and Smash riding the pine, Landry delivers a halftime speech about being stronger as a unit than they are alone. By fighting and sticking together as a team, they can rally and win. The team is reenergized and Landry further sparks Dillon by forcing a fumble that led to a Panthers TD after the backup QB threw an interception. And the best is yet to come.

With the Panthers down 19-14 in the closing moments, Dillon recovers an onside kick and Matt and Smash - who aired out their differences on the sideline - tell Coach they want in. With one play remaining, Matt throws for Landry deep down field, but the pass is incomplete. However, a pass interference call on the defense keeps the game alive for one un-timed down, with the Panthers taking possession at the two yard line.

Smash leaps over the pile for a TD, giving Dillon a 20-19 win and setting off a raucous celebration.

Landry is the center of attention at a post-game bash, having sparked the team in the locker room as well as on the field. But his world all comes crashing down when Tyra - clearly reeling from her talk with Landry's dad - tells him that they can't see each other anymore. She's pretty harsh about it as well, saying it never would have happened between them were it not for the murder. Landry returns to the party confused and dejected.
