The events take place on August 29th, 1993, 1994, and 1995.

In 1993, Kate wakes up looking at the pink bunny and wishing herself a happy birthday. in 1994, Kate reveals in the chatroom that Martin used food as a weapon against her. Rod and Joy ask Kate about being a guest on The Marsha Bailey Show, but she refuses to do it.

In 1995, Kate wakes up with a hangover; Mallory wishes her a happy birthday. A flashback shows Kate refusing to eat real food while held prisoner by Martin. Martin reveals that everyone has given up searching for her and that Jamie started dating Jeanette.

In 1993, Jamie tells Rod that he wants to get Kate a promise ring. In her room, Kate makes a comment to Joy about looking dressed up; she doesn't want to pick a fight.

In 1994, Mallory comes to visit Kate, but she's shocked to find out it's her birthday. In 1995, Kate discovered a theory tape that talks about Annabelle. She and Mallory listen to the tape where 1994 Kate says she can't remember Annabelle and then has a panic attack.

Kate can't remember Annabelle, even in 1995. Mallory has a surprise for Kate on her birthday; she doesn't want to talk about the court case at all.

In 1993, Jamie gives Kate the promise ring at the mall in front of Renee, Tennille, and Ben. In 1994, Ashley finds Kate and Mallory high while having nachos; they invite her to join them to watch a movie. Vince is surprised that Mallory is hanging out with Kate.

In 1994, while watching the black and white movie with Ashley and Mallory, she has traumatic flashes of being chased by Martin in the basement. Joy asks Kate again about doing the show, but Kate refuses to do it. Kate lashes out that Joy ruined her birthday in 1993.

In 1994, Rod apologizes to Kate for not taking her side during her previous birthday. He reveals that he forgave Joy because Kate was kidnapped and it shook up their entire lives.

A news report reveals that a teen in Widow Falls was almost a victim of Martin's.

In 1993, Jamie starts drinking from Tennille's pink flask. Ben and Jamie start fooling around and he spills alcohol on her dress.

In 1994, Kate reveals that Martin confided in her about the girl from Widow Falls and that he didn't harm her. Kate believes the Widow Falls girl is lying for attention. Joy thinks her going on the talk show will showcase her truth.

In 1993, Kate tells Jamie that her favorite gift was a reprint about The Talented Mr. Ripley that was given to her by her late father. Jamie drunkenly tells Kate that he wants to have a big family with her.

In 1995, Mallory's birthday surprise is taking Kate to the roller rink. Mallory reveals she's the new assistant manager; Kate is happy to have a fun birthday for once. The pair get dressed up in funny outfits to skate around the rink.

In 1993, Jamie is drunk and collapses outside of Martin's house. Martin drives Kate and Jamie back home. Kate confides to Martin that she needs to spill about Joy and the gardener; she touches his hand in the car.

In 1993, Kate tells Rod that she saw Joy and Scott kissing. Joy denies the accusation. Meanwhile, Martin is at his house thinking about Kate and drinking.

In 1994, Rod and Joy have a heart-to-heart about them overcoming their past troubles and Joy's affair. In 1993, Kate pleads with Rod that she's telling the truth; Joy slaps Kate after being called a bad name. Rod doesn't say anything to help Kate.

In 1995, Mallory goes through Kate's backup printer, but it's jammed. She finds a note jammed in the machine. Kate confronts Joy about the paper that says "Liar" on it. Joy was the one who sent the message to Kate.

In 1995, Ashley and Derek hook up for the first time in Ashley's dorm room. While Ashley is showering, Derek finds the chatroom logs of her conversation with Kate. He prints a copy of the conversation.

In 1995, Kate is upset about how Joy treats her and how it led to Martin grooming her. Joy reveals she's jealous of Kate's relationship with Rod and that she sent the letter so that Kate would have an enemy to put her energy against. They both reveal they missed each other.

In 1993, Joy lashes out at Kate as Kate plans to run away. Instead of going to Renee or Tennille, Kate goes to Martin's house.

A flashback reveals Kate eating real food while captured by Martin. Martin tries manipulating her by reminding her of why she came to him and the terrible treatment by Joy.

In 1995, Derek gives Jeanette the printed conversation from the chatroom. The chat reveals that Kate went to Martin's house willingly.
