The Witcher
Thursdays on NetflixGeralt of Rivia
Geralt of Rivia was given as a child to the witchers of Kaer Morhen. He is magically mutated into a warrior and trained to fight monsters that have invaded the Continent ever since the Conjunction of the Spheres.
He is known as the White Wolf for his long white hair and the wolf head on his witcher medallion.
Once, while visiting the Court at Cintra, he defended a cursed knight named Duny who had come to claim the hand of Pavetta, Cintra's princess. When her mother, Queen Calanthe, tried to kill Duny herself, Pavetta's elven blood powers activated and blasted everyone except her and Duny.
Duny offers Geralt anything in payment for his support. Geralt claims on the Law of Surprise just as Pavetta vomits, revealing she is pregnant already with Duny's child, Princess Cirilla.
By the Law of Surprise, Cirilla is Geralt's, but he refuses to return to Cintra to take custody of her. When the Nilfgaardian army overruns Cintra, Ciri is forced to escape. Eventually, fate brings her and Geralt together, and he adopts her as his own.
His relationship with Yennefer of Vengerberg is a longer and more complicated one, but they also come to an understanding and accept their love for each other. Together, they train and protect Ciri.
