Whiskey Cavalier Canceled at ABC

ABC has swung the ax on the Scott Foley and Lauren Cohan-led series after just one low-rated season.
Creator, Bill Lawrence took to Twitter to confirm the cancellation.
"WhiskeyCavalier is unfortunately over. I actually did have an investment in the show and the people. I’m sad. I’m grateful for the chance," he shared.

Not even a solid lead-in following the Academy Awards could help bring in solid ratings.
It averaged a mere 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demo in live+same day figures, but it did command strong growth in delayed viewing.
Foley and Cohan are also marketable stars, which explains why the series was a draw internationally.
However, the big issue that plagued the series was that it was now owned by ABC, meaning the diminished ratings, coupled with the fact that network would not make money from potential syndication, made a sophomore run a big gamble.

The series also starred The Walking Dead's Tyler James Williams, Devious Maids‘ Ana Ortiz and Cougar Town alum Josh Hopkins.
Whiskey Cavalier joins Speechless, For the People, Splitting Up Together, and the Kids Are Alright on the ABC scrap heap.
The network previously renewed Grey's Anatomy, The Conners, Modern Family, The Goldbergs, The Good Doctor, Station 19, Schooled, American Housewife, A Million Little Things, Single Parents, Black-ish, The Rookie, Bless This Mess, How to Get Away with Murder, Fresh off the Boat and Marvel's Agents of SHIELD as the renewals for the coming season.
Two episodes of Whiskey Cavalier remain.
