There may be a long wait in store for Riverdale Season 3, and we have our first look at KJ Apa as he prepares to return to filming as Archie Andrews.

The picture shows Apa with a whole lot of abs, clearly right after a boxing session as he gets in shape for Riverdale Season 3.

"Look who’s back in red and fighting shape for season 3 of #Riverdale. We start Friday. SO EXCITED," Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre Sacasa captioned the image which he shared earlier this week.

The wording of the statement could allude to Archie seeking revenge on Hiram Lodge in the upcoming episodes. Riverdale Season 2 concluded with Archie getting arrested for murder.

Earlier in the season, Hiram sent his bodyguard, Andre to look out for Veronica and her friends as danger seemed to be lurking at every turn due to Hiram's dodgy dealings.

The kids were targeted by a group of thieves, and Andre killed one of them who was named Cassidy. However, this was pinned on Archie by Hiram after Archie told the villain he would never win the war.

It was a crazy twist, for sure, and it sounds like there's no way out for Archie when the show kicks off Season 3.

Roberto's Twitter feed has served as a beacon of light for fans who want to know more details about the episodes before they hit the air. He recently shared the following:

And yes, it very likely means that a trial is on the horizon, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Riverdale Season 2 suffered from poor pacing, and the back and forth of a trial could make things worse.

The Black Hood storyline was all over the place, but if the case is not dragged out too long, it could work well.
