James very nearly revealed himself to the world as Guardian on Supergirl Season 3 Episode 19, but fortunately for him, his secret identity remains safe.

Below, TV Fanatics Christine Orlando, Kathleen Wiedel, and Stacy Glanzman discuss our thoughs on James' tragic story, telling secrets, and a theraputic game of foosball!

What were your thoughts on James' story? Did you think there was a chance he would reveal himself as Guardian?

Christine: The story about him and his siblings made me tear up it was so painful. But I didn’t think he’d reveal himself simply because it would change everything.

I don’t think he could still be Guardian without the anonymity. There would be lawsuits and controversy, even without the race issue. I don’t think a superhero can live out in the open without the notoriety effectively becoming an obstacle to doing good.

Kathleen: No way he was actually going to reveal himself as Guardian from a meta perspective. And from an in-universe perspective, it opens up a huge can of worms, as Christine rightly pointed out. Vigilantism is against the law in real life for good reason, after all.

The overwhelming majority of cops are good, honest folks who aren't out to harass or shoot people, but to protect them. And certainly not to put handcuffs on seven-year-olds accused of non-violent crimes. (If any cop from my local police station did that, he or she would probably be out of a job.)

Stacy: I agree, James' story was heartbreaking. I assumed something would stop him from revealing himself, and I liked that Tonya felt inspired by him enough to stop him from doing it.

One downfall of being a masked vigilante is that you don't always get to see any appreciation for it, but James was able to experience that with Tonya and see that he really is making a difference.

Would telling Lena the truth be selfish of Kara, or would it be the right thing to do?

Christine: I’d prefer Kara be truthful, but at this point I’m afraid that Lena would be devastated. I fear her trust in everyone would be shattered, especially when she learns that no only is Kara really Supergirl, but that all of the people closest to her knew and didn’t tell her.

Kathleen: Christine summed it up pretty well. If Lena finds out at this point, things will probably only end in tears.

Stacy: I wish Kara had told her before it got to this point, but that ship has sailed. If she tells her now, Lena will be devastated and lose one of her best friends. It's a tough situation, but I don't think it's the right time for Kara to come clean. Maybe after they save Sam.

Should Mon-El tell Kara how he feels or take J'onn's advice and keep it to himself?

Christine: Take J'onn's advice. He’s still married. Mon-El needs to figure out what he wants before he puts that on Kara, because for her, it would give her hope, perhaps only to lose him all over again if he chooses to go back to Imra.

Kathleen: Again, I'm with Christine. J'onn has the right idea here. Mon-El really needs to stop and think this through before he says anything here.

Stacy: Agreed. Unless Mon-El is 100% sure he wants to leave Imra and be with Kara, he needs to keep his inner turmoil to himself. Otherwise, he risks hurting Kara all over again, and she doesn't deserve that.

Are you enjoying Alex playing the "mom" role with Ruby?

Christine: There are moments I like it and moments it feels a little forced, but what I really loved was that foosball saved the day for both Ruby and M’yrnn!

Kathleen: That foosball scene! Was that great, or what? And it was a good way to bring those two stories together in an organic manner that makes sense. As for the specific question of Alex taking on a maternal role with Ruby, I think pretty much everyone saw it coming.

Now all we have to see is whether Ruby's actual mother makes it out of the season alive, or whether Alex will make the position a more permanent one, as her desire for children was quite firmly established already.

Stacy: Yes, the foosball scene was adorable! Kathleen is right that we all saw this coming, but I am very curious if it will become permanent. If they do save Sam, I wouldn't be surprised to see Alex consider fostering another kid.

What was your favorite quote or scene?

Christine: “Racism is the oldest form of bullying.” I never thought about it in those terms, but it’s true. It’s sad that after all of this time, all of this supposed progress, we’re still dealing with the same issues over and over again.

Kathleen: I really enjoyed M'yrnn and Ruby bonding over foosball. "I love the foosball" indeed!

Stacy: Both of those were great, but for the sake of being different, I'll go wtih Mon-El's undercover gig as Mike pretending to hop into a Lyft. I cracked up at that entire encounter.
