Roseanne Season 10 Episode 8 Review: Netflix & Pill

at .  Updated at .

I want to apologize to anyone who works in the restaurant industry who is forced to sing songs to people on their birthdays.

Things took an interesting turn on Roseanne Season 10 Episode 8, but I have to say it was an interesting turn of events. It's always tricky to deal with addiction issues on a comedy series, but they addressed Roseanne's problems in a realistic way.

I had a feeling there was going to be an issue with Roseanne and the pills she was taking. The entire season has been alluding to Roseanne's issues with her knee and the pills she was taking, so having an addiction was not a surprise. I understood why she was taking so many as well.

Family Dinner - Roseanne Season 10 Episode 8

Roseanne and Dan have been having a lot of financial issues, and Roseanne didn't want to cause more issues for Dan, so she made a decision to just take more pills.

This is something that happens to a lot of people who can't afford to have surgery, as well as those without benefits. I only wish Roseanne had been more upfront about the pills.

It was heartbreaking to see Dan realize Roseanne had a problem. Dan has been trying hard to be there for his family and make sure they don't worry, but you could tell he felt as though he had failed.

I also have to give credit to Dan for wanting to talk with Roseanne about the addiction issues instead of just getting angry with her because she wasn't being honest with him.

It's so easy to get angry at people who lie, but instead he talked with Roseanne. Dan wanted to know why she felt she needed to hide this from him.

Roseanne may say she doesn't have a problem, but her excuses for using the pills were something an addict would say. It was smart of Dan to take hold of the pills, but agree to give her the recommended dose.

Dan Puts His Foot Down - Roseanne Season 10 Episode 8

The only complaint I have about the whole addiction storyline is Dan not thinking to check other spots. Roseanne is a smart woman, no one can deny it, he should have known she would have hidden them elsewhere. When she pulled the icepack out of the fridge I knew there were going to be pills hidden in there.

My biggest complaint is we won't get a chance to really see them tackle Roseanne's addiction issue as there is only one episode left in Roseanne Season 10.

I've got high hopes they will go down this somewhat darker road to show how easy it is to get addicted to pain pills. The Conner's have been through a lot, and this would be new territory for them.

Let's move on to the other storyline that was highlighted. Who else was yelling when Darlene wanted to pass on Crystal's offer? Here is a woman who currently has no job and no benefits for her children, but she acts like taking a job as a cocktail waitress is beneath her.

Crystal's retirement - Roseanne

I understood Darlene feels like she is going backward in what she wants to do, but Dan was right about her needing to suck it up. Darlene can still continue to write and try to become a writer again, but she also needs to think of her family. Darlene should have thought things through before telling Becky to go for the job, too.

Becky had every right to be angry with Darlene when she went to the restaurant to tell her she'd be applying for the job.

Becky may not have a family, but she also needs to make a living. Becky is clearly in a crappy job, and she sees no ending in sight, so applying for the cocktail waitress job would have been perfect for her.

Of course, I wasn't surprised to learn Becky decided to pass on the job. At least Darlene came up with the idea for Becky to go back to school. It really would be beneficial for Becky to take on some night classes in between working. She is a smart woman but also needs to have more support from those around her.

Now it's your turn to tell me what you think.

Are you on board with Roseanne being addicted to pain pills? Do you think it would be a good idea for Becky to go to college? What do you want to see in the season finale next week?
