Monica Raymund Officially Quits Chicago Fire: Read Her Statement

Chicago Fire is officially losing an original star.

Monica Raymund took to Twitter early Tuesday morning to confirm that she is, indeed, leaving the NBC series in her rearview mirror.

"It has been an honor to play Dawson on Chicago Fire, and one of the most meaningful experiences of my life," the statement begins.

"I am so thankful for the journey and especially to all of you for watching, but I have made the decision that's time for me to move on to the next chapter in life," the statement continues.

"I'll always be proud to have played a fierce paramedic with such an incredible cast and crew."

"On to the next. See you on the ice."

"Love, Monica," the actress said to close her message off.

If you watch Chicago Fire online, you will know that Dawson had an exciting job opportunity that would take her to Puerto Rico, and she seemingly accepted it after an argument with her husband, Casey, about the lengths she is willing to go to in order to conceive a child.

Based on the wording of the statement, it does not sound like Monica will appear in any episodes of Chicago Fire Season 7, so it looks like Thursday's season finale was crafted as an exit in the event the actress did not re-up her contract for another year.

As previously reported, Jesse Spence, Taylor Kinney, Eamonn Walker, Kara Kilmer, Christian Stolte, Miranda Rae Mayor, Yuri Sardarov and Joe Minoso will all be back.

NBC announced on Sunday that Chicago Fire would be moving to Wednesday nights to air in a #OneChicago block with Chicago Med and Chicago PD.

Chicago Fire Season 6 took a hit in the ratings after a move to Thursday nights. It averaged 6 million viewers and a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49.

It was off almost 30 percent year-to-year, but still regularly topped the 10/9c hour.
