The Handmaid's Tale: Amanda Brugel Upped To Series Regular!
Paul Dailly at .With The Handmaid's Tale returning for another season, a lot of fans have been questioning which actors will be series regulars.
Now we know that there will be a lot more Rita.
The Hulu drama series has promoted Amanda Brugel to a full-fledged series regular for Season 2, which is set to debut on the streamer in 2018.
Brugel's character works as a Martha for the Waterford family and appeared in nine out of ten episodes of The Handmaid's Tale Season 1, so it was only a matter of time before the promotion was announced.
If you watch The Handmaid's Tale online, you will already know that Offred was taken away from the Waterford family on The Handmaid's Tale Season 1 Episode 10.
Viewers were left in the lurch about where she was sent to, and whether she was going to be safe after the revelation that she was pregnant with Nick's baby.
Despite many arguments, the Waterfords seemed genuinely concerned for her well-being and where she was being sent to, but Brugel's promotion essentially confirms the Waterfords will continue to be a part of the new run of episodes.
Are they only interested in her for the baby? That will be one of the bigger questions when the show returns.
Rita was skeptical of Offred when she was first placed with the family, but she gradually grew to like her as the first season continued, with Offred trusting her enough to tell her about the parcel under the bath tub.
It was previously announced that Alexis Bledel would return as a full-time member of the cast for the thirteen episode sophomore run.
Brugel has previously appeared in Orphan Black, Eye Witness, and Covert Affairs.
Production is scheduled to commence next month in Toronto.
