The Flash Season 3: Flashpoint is Coming!

at .

The official title of The Flash Season 3 Episode 1 is...

FLASHPOINT!!!

All of you who knew it was coming, feel free to pat yourselves on the back.

The Flash! Ahhhaaaahhh Season 2 Episode 11

Grant Gustin (if you don't know who he is, it's about time you did, he IS Barry Allen aka The Flash) got very excited reading the first script of the season and wanted to share on Twitter.

He was reticent, of course, to share the title, but even Greg Berlanti agreed "JK NOT GONNA TELL YOU YET!!" was a little verbose, and gave his approval for the release.

So, Flashpoint it is.

Gustin's follow-up tweet was far more interesting:

We're definitely doing this FP thing our own way.. I've read Flashpoint, I've seen the amazing animated film. This will be its own thing.

In the comics version of Flashpoint, there are a lot of changes due to Barry's travel back in time that cannot carry over to our world, because we don't have the characters. Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman, I'm lookin' at you (not yet, anyway).

Nora is alive (which I fully expect will be true), Captain Cold is the city's greatest hero (also expect to be true) and Henry is dead.

Hmmm. So far, not much would be unexpected considering our visits to Earth-2 and the action on The Flash Season 2 Episode 23.

Something causes Barry to believe Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash is responsible for changing history instead of Barry himself, and I could see that happening, too.

After all, Barry didn't really think through the consequences of saving his mom AT ALL.

But, we have two more active series to incorporate IF DC wants to bring them into Flashpoint. Will Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow be a part of this epic story?

I'm not so sure. While Legends' villain Vandal Savage did his rounds to all series, there was no word in Central City of the missiles Team Arrow was fighting during their waning Season 4 episodes. Sometimes the shows are not as interconnected as we'd like them to be.

Additionally, The Flash is the first show to premiere this fall on The CW, giving The Flash one episode to figure it all out. Can an epic mistake like the one Barry made be wrapped up in one episode?

Sure, it's been done before. But it might be dissatisfying for us. Personally, I'd like to see Barry really understand the consequences of his actions. Nothing has really gotten through to him yet.

Whatever they have planned for doing Flashpoint their own way, I hope it gets through to Barry that time travel isn't to be taken lightly, and it's not a decision that should be made on a whim.

So what do you think? How will The Flash make Flashpoint their own? What changes would you want? Do you expect it to fall over to the other DC shows on The CW or would you prefer it stayed only on The Flash?

The Flash Quotes

Ramsey: You know, I don't understand you Barry. You march towards death without fear, just like mum. Where is it you get your strength?
Barry: Probably the same place she did, people I love.

Where I came from, I was a speedster like you. They called me The Flash.
