Elementary to Jump Ahead, Bring on Board Joan's Boyfriend

at .

We have a couple major news nuggets concerning Elementary Season 3.

FIRST, the series will jump ahead a full year when it returns in September, with Sherlock and Joan having been apart for nearly 12 months after the former left at the end of Elementary Season 2 for his new job at MI6.

SECOND, producers have tapped Raza Jaffrey as Joan’s new boyfriend, someone normal and stable and pretty much the opposite of Sherlock Holmes.

As you might expect, Jaffrey’s Andrew (who will appear in the October 30 premiere) will clash with Sherlock when the detective does finally return to New York.

The actor - who recently guest-starred on Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and will next appear  on Homeland, joins Ophelia Lovibond and Gina Gershon as new Elementary faces.

The former will portray Sherlock's protégé Kitty, while the latter comes on board as suspected cartel leader Elana March.

Elementary Quotes

Holmes: Why do you suppose you hate your job so much?
Watson: I don't hate my job.
Holmes: You have two alarm clocks. No one with two alarm clocks loves their job. Two alarm clocks mean it's a chore for you to get up in the morning.

Watson: How do you do it, guess things?
Sherlock: I observe and then I deduce.
Watson: How did you know I was a doctor, you said you could tell from my hands.
Sherlock: Hand, singular. It was soft no calluses.
Watson: How did you know my father had an affair?
Sherlock: Google. Not everything is deducible.
