Sons of Anarchy Comic-Con Panel: First Season 4 Footage and More!

at .

For the final Comic-Con panel of 2011, fans jammed their way into Hall H in order to hear from Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman, Katey Sagal and Kurt Sutter.

The event kicked off with a trailer for season four, which included footage of SAMCRO getting out of jail. Jax has a new haircut and Sutter's Big Otto makes an appearance on screen.

Sutter confirms that we'll pick up 14 months after events on the finale, time that Jax apparently spent contemplating the kidnapping of his son and what this means for his life:

"That 14 months was spent doing some pretty intense soul-searching and trying to figure out how he's going to balance his life in the club and how to look after his babies... Some difficult decisions are going to have to be made down the line."

(In an interview with me immediately prior to the panel, which will go live this week, Hunnam teased an engagement to Tara and the possibility that Jax might leave the club. )

What is going on with Gemma on the September 6 premiere?

She's happy, Sagal said: "The babies are coming home, the guys are coming home, things are a little lucrative... [but that] doesn't really last that long."

Among other teasers shared:

  • Rockmond Dunbar coming on board as the new sheriff will allow the show to explore racial tension in Charming.
  • Sutter, on Jax and Tara's status: "There's a deeper commitment to family than ever before. I would characterize that relationship as more important to him."
  • Sutter joked that he likes to hurt Otto every season because it "personifies" what it's like to be a showrunner.
  • And, finally, take us home, Kurt: "There's as many, if not more, fucked-up things this season than ever before."
